Google recently released the final version of Google Chrome 2.The browser is faster than some of its close competitors like Firefox and Internet Explorer 8,but still lacks the support for addons . Though there are some user scripts for enabling extra features like ad blocking ,spell check ,page rank check etc. ,its pretty difficult to get them installed . Meanwhile , we found a developer version of Google Chrome 3 that has support for installing addons . This release has more than 16 major fixes from Chrome version 2 .
The new tab page now includes links to recent activities which lists downloads and recently opened tabs but also a tips and suggestions section which has not been filled with content yet. It is now also possible to move the eight website thumbnails around and pin them in the tab so that they are always accessible there (which resembles Opera’s Speed Dial then). Previously the most visited pages where shown when a new tab was opened according to their hits.
According to Google, the new beta is 30 percent faster in both the V8 and SunSpider benchmarks, the company said in a blog post. In general, that means that the new beta will be substantially faster in executing JavaScript
However, Google has made other improvements as well. “For example, when you open a new web page while other web pages are still loading, Google Chrome is now smarter about prioritizing the requests for the new page — for instance, fetching text, images, and video for your new page — ahead of the requests from the older pages,” Glen Murphy Loading pages on this beta release should also be faster than ever with DNS caching, more efficient DOM bindings, and using V8 for proxy auto-config.”
Google also said that it made improvements to its New Tabs page and the so-called Omnibox, which doubles as a search box and a spot to input new Web site addresses. The New Tabs page, which traditionally has pulled up a list of the most-clicked-on sites within that user’s browser, can now be customized, allowing users to “pin” particular sites in certain locations. The Omnibox also includes icons next to its suggestions, to indicate whether they are a Web site address or a bookmark, for example.
Chrome can also be customized with a list of themes, Google said.
